Getting everyone together to save the possums jumps from being destroyed by NPSW. Good times!
Packing light we’re heading for an overnight camp just outside of the Hunter Valley. Meeting up with Max, Tori, Jono and Suzy for a campfire and cookout. It’s looking cold tonight (0℃ and we’ve got some perfectly clear skies.
Australia Day weekend had a lot to offer. With a massive heatwave blanketing NSW we’re retreating to Dungog for some mountain biking and lodge life. Wangat has so much to do but we were happy just riding and swimming.
Got a bit wet over at Stonehaven today – Managed to get in 2 very quick climbs before the rain claimed the day.
Get in the Car, we’re going sand driving at Stockton. The Pajero is loaded up and we’re ready to go away for a camping weekend up the dunes.
It’s been a busy few weeks with Bianca and I managing to clock up some serious km’s on the bikes. We’ve managed to take the camera out a few times now to capture a fair few good shots. Below is a mix of Wollongong and Canberra. Including the Camping Pajero SWB rig.
Dragged out of the house running on 60% due to recent big weekends. Time for some relaxing rainforest vibes
Bronte AM never fails to provide the goods. This morning we’ve got a really nice and warm morning. Brought the bike along to get a ride home in. This time of year is a bit weird – we’ve got sunrise around 5am which gives a good 3hrs until getting ready for work.
We’re on our way south for a weekend of sun, fishing and a bit of 4wd action. Heading just south of Shoal-haven we’ve entered prime territory to get the fishing rods out and set the BBQs up for some good food.
It’s a bit too wet to climb anywhere. Except Mt Alex at Mittagong which somehow manages to be the driest place on earth. Diego managed to get his 20 sorted clean which is a monster effect.
It’s the perfect temperature to go ride some seriously fun trails. Packed into the Pajero with the new Yakima Hangover rack, we’re at Kentlyn riding the rocky forest with highlights including Dan / Tom jumping the big step up and a few new times to brag about on Strava for us all.
It’s time to get out – I’ve not left the apartment properly for two weeks. Winifred falls is calling and the weather couldn’t be any better. Housemates only trip to play it safe as we ventured into the royal national park and pushed a little further beyond the usual falls spot – Just beyond is…
5.45am, check the surf report and the weather. Discover there is one rouge storm that is directly North East, which is directly where the sun rises. Usually it’s the high clouds that give a morning its pink sunrise, but this storm is a large enough that is should deliver the goods with light escaping through…
After weeks of drought-breaking, dam filling, drenching rain Bondi is back with a big swell (I’m also back with my cast off and 70% of my wrist functionality, soon to be 100%). Today is valentines day and we’ve got a bottle of wine to watch the sunset – North Bondi always delivering the fun times.
It’s hot. But we’re looking like a good race – several cars have unfortunately totaled out. Waking up early, the 3hr drive goes a lot faster with a mate in the car and with a quick pit stop and bunnings for round hats and a snag we made it to the race right as it…
Time to come home. This time via a few new spots. Beach camping and cave hunting first stopping for some beach camping.
I want a rainforest hike, and Mt Warning delivered, Good stuff all the way up, with great views delivered.
Time to head north. Load up the bike and check the clamps are tight for the rooftop tent. With Newcastle too smokey and burnt out to stop – we’ve pitted in for breakfast just near Forsters Beach for a beach BBQ. Keeping north we’ve stopped in at the pub near Hat Head Caravan Park, got…
Stanwell / Stonehaven crag has new routes – and they’re a lot of fun. Parking up nice and early we left for the crag, hiking in its always difficult finding this one as there is a mix of MTB trails and single tracks everywhere – doesn’t help the crag is off the side and down…
It’s windy, thinking this Rosa Gully would have some protection on either side we made our way down into the base of the ocean cliffs.. except instead of protecting us from the on shore wind, the walls acted as a funnel and gusted constantly. Diego is a big flakey climb first up, 17 draws and…
It’s one of those beachy afternoons. Usually with a bottle of wine and some snacks followed by a snorkel off the rocks. Except we’ve just camp back from the Hunter Valley and still full with wines and snacks (chocolate mostly). Sunsets are getting better and better on the north rocks – lining up to be…
Time to relax – time to unwind AND time to long lunch with too much wine, cheese and food. Hunter Valley needs visiting once a year to stock up the cellar with summer wines.
The sun is up way before I am, and it’s 5.50am! that only means one thing. It’s going to be a hot Friday today. Kicking off the warmer months this will be the first of many beach mornings – nothing too special happened this morning, except my key didn’t work to get out the training…
The annual climb – it’s like a proficiency of sorts. With the climb being once of the most visually stunning and simplest routes south of Sydney. We managed to get the 4wd onto the dirt track and plugged down the path to find it sunny with very little wind. Swing leads, with me up first…
It’s supposed to be freezing cold. But this weekend has felt like summer. Wouldnt risk going for a swim but that doesn’t mean we can’t take the cars for a quick dip. This farm weekend had all the usual suspects with Bianca’s family and friends around for a firepit and pizzas. The 6hr commute was…
It’s local, its ocean-based, it’s apparently really nice rock. Why haven’t I been here before? Today we’re going to climb Rosa Gully. We’re sending the two 18’s here – one climb requires 17 draws which is an impressive bit of weight. Big plans for this crag in the future!
It’s a slow weekend – we’re going to take it easy and play on a few simple spots. But that doesn’t mean we’re not going to get sendy. With Cam tackling a boulder problem and a rooftop climb that was loads of fun in Southerland, then to Rosa Gully in Valucules to scope some sea…
Can’t feel my toes. I’m in shoes that constrict blood to them so with that and the cold from the weather we’re not ideal climbing conditions. It’s windy, 10degrees and the rock is sharp. Regards we’re driving to Mittagong for a climb and bike ride
This weekends going to be a big one. One that includes but is not limited to; beers, MT biking, rock climbing, good friends, KFC, Mcdon’s (…and a bit of canned Tuna). Loading up the car on Saturday we’ll begin at the local spot Mt Keira for a warm up. It’s been a while since our…
It’s that time again for another trip up to the mountains – this time for a solid project we’ve been working at Victoria Falls. Coupled with a bit of offroading action through the trails we packed the car more that a 24 pack of chicken nuggets. Great weekend with great people – *bought a mountain…
Another weekend spent on the wall, this time at Mittagong. It’s windy out today and we’re going to chance it heading up to project some 20’s. It’s looking like a solid evening spent going up these walls with laughter and falls to be had.
Crack climbing is the worst – but FOMO is even worse so it’s another trip to the mountains for a day of climbing cracks with new people from all walks. From what I have learnt, you basically want to cram as much of your body or hand into a dark crack as possible. Then pushing your…
Too much chocolate, too much fun. This weekend consisted of abseiling, rock climbing, blue mountains 4wd, crag camping – then a short 4.5hr drive to the farm. Which repeated with more fun and adventuring.
Saturdays are for the boys – and 5am mission trips to the mountains are always a good idea. We’re crag hunting today looking for new spots to try to send ourselves up. Turns out we found a great crag and spent all morning climbing around.
