It’s time to get out – I’ve not left the apartment properly for two weeks. Winifred falls is calling and the weather couldn’t be any better. Housemates only trip to play it safe as we ventured into the royal national park and pushed a little further beyond the usual falls spot – Just beyond is…

Day 165. – Sweet Dreams

Interestingly, coming out of this. The only thought it what is next. Sweet Dreams is a multi-pitch in the Blue Mountains just near the 3 Sisters, it used to be the pinnacle and unachievable climbing dream. But this week we packed our bags and began the 3.30am drive. Beginning at ~6.30, the climb was pretty simple…

Day 133. – Mountain Top Sunrise

It’s going to be an early one.. Too Early. Driving in the dark, we’ve got the perfect place to get some yoga underway. The only problem is we’re 50mins away and sunrise is at 6am. So it’s going to be an early rise for both us and the sun tomorrow. *Sliding Rocks is a short…

Day 132. – Great Heights

Today is definitely one of those days – the kind where it’ll be the best day you’ve had this week.. and it’s only Monday. It’s pretty hard to find deep water in Pisgah State Park, but we know a spot that has the best tree swing around here… and at this time of the morning,…
-
Day 131. – Yellowstone Prong

Stash the bike upstream somewhere in the bushes and park at the lower falls section. Get prep’d and ready to head up through the cascading waterfalls. It’s about 5miles, I find it best to go barefoot, although Astral footwear does some good shoes that’ll help get you up and past the waterfall. Bring Friends and…
-
Day 127. – Just Peak It

Okay, today is the day. Check and double check everything is packed because we’re going up the 4 pitches to the top. The plan is simple, grab a lift to the top of the forest and lock up the mountain bikes. Ascend the hike to the Sundial cliff face and complete the multiple pitches to the…

Turn that radio up… ‘Call Me Maybe’ is pumping and the van full of kids know all the words. It’s a 45min drive so pack lunch for 13 and hit the path that circles Pisgah National Park. We’re on our hike and swim to Rainbow and Turtleback falls. Plus if there is the time we’ll finish…
-
Day 121. – On Break Hikes

-
Day 117. – Learning The Ropes

Climbing training becoming time-consuming and distracting. It also seems that my memory has began freeing up space (like peoples names, basic geography and what I was about to say) to create room for these new knots I’m learning. Today was all about trad gear, climbing revision and dropping in on a few canyoning spots around Brevard,…

Hey Mum, I’m really sorry I didn’t call on Mothers Day, or the day after, or the day after that. I’ve been both under and above ground on caving and abseil training with a group of legends. This is the first of many training missions and the team couldn’t be happier.

How to tick Yosemite off the Bucket list: Book your solo flight out of Australia, meet up with two other Aussies and don’t forget to find a token New Zealander to bring along. Pile into the hire car and head 300km directly across the flat landscape national park, stopping regularly to check out the terrible…

Day 104. – Currumbin Cascades

We’ve made it coastal, but it’s a bit too windy and washed out of a swim – we’ll hit the Cascades instead. Just 30mins from Burleigh Heads are these endless waterfalls with natural waterslides. No time to rest… [but that sleep-in was a great idea] we’re going waterfall hunting in the Glasshouse mountains. Gardners Falls first up which has a few perfect rope swings, followed by Picnic and Kondalilla falls. It’s too green in QLD now, I’ve nuked the greens in this series and they’re still too much! much.
-
Day 96. – Hike-cycle

Yea, okay so maybe Karloo pools wasn’t ‘just 400m this way’ instead it ended up being an 8km round trip. But that only made the maccas trip after so much more rewarding. Also, if you’re after a great cheesy date idea, Try bike rides during sunset. Results this way ->

Day 81. – Gerringong

One foot in front of the other, repeat. It’s a long walk to these falls plus we’re going rouge track for a bit. Get your feet ready.
